Multiport
Digital Platform. Design and technological renovation
The project
Multiport is an association of independent shipping agents founded in 1978 in Rotterdam. With a presence in more than 122 countries and in more than 1,800 ports, it constitutes the largest and oldest network of independent shipping agents in the world.
The entity had a web portal that had been developed by using currently obsolete technology. Its architecture, visual appearance and functionality for the user required a complete renovation.
It was also necessary to provide its portal with scalability so that as Multiport's business evolved, its information could be transferred and communicated correctly through the new web platform, also facilitating interaction and communication with its target audience.
Challenges
-
Building a scalable web platform
-
Aligning the web platform with the organizational complexity of the entity
-
Reflecting faithfully Multiport's activity and business model
-
Visually and structurally renewing their web portal
The solution
Based on the problems listed above, Izertis carried out a work methodology to design, develop and implement a web platform that included the customization of functionalities and scalability that Multiport required together with the technical SEO, preventive SEO and design work of the new graphic image of the portal. In addition, the necessary training actions were proposed so that its members could operate on the platform immediately after it was put into production.
The renewal and reengineering of the web platform has made it possible to carry out a detailed analysis of all the necessary functionalities and define the new information architecture. Its design has been articulated under UX criteria and 100% responsive models and under a graphic line aligned with the Multiport brand image.
As part of the project, the initial data loading and content migration has also been carried out and the roles and permissions have been configured together with the templates, structures and pages. A private area has also been deployed where multiport members worldwide can keep up to date with all the news, bulletins and documents, as well as work and contribute information in a collaborative way.
Before putting the portal into production, and depending on Multiport's business strategy, a “Keyword Search” was carried out as a preliminary audit to determine which keywords should compose the portal's content to enhance them. At the same time and throughout the migration process, a preventive SEO was carried out to avoid the loss of the positioning acquired by Multiport in recent years (404 errors, redirect audits, study of the link profile and the urls indexed in the search engines).
The result
We can say that Multiport now has a completely renewed web platform, designed for the user and aligned with the business. Among some of the benefits that we can highlight, and that have been obtained based on the needs previously analysed, we could talk about:
- The creation of a responsive platform, with a totally UX-oriented approach, updated and graphically adapted.
- The ability to evolve the web platform at the pace that Multiport's business does.
- The management and creation of a directory of all its agencies and their access to the portal including roles and permissions.
- The management and creation of a directory of all its agencies and their access to the portal including roles and permissions.
- Automation of notices for all members of the platform and the creation of a private area in which they can share all kinds of documentation internally.
- The renewal and update of its web architecture and functional improvement with the deployment of a new platform.
- Safeguard the SEO positioning generated in recent years and optimize your current content.
