VAUGHAN RADIO
Live two-way communication between listeners and presenters
The project
Vaughan Radio wanted to offer a simple tool with which users could learn English, regardless of their location. The aim was to achieve two-way communication and interaction between the listener and the presenter. Radio often provides a channel for one-way communication, and this project sought to break down this barrier, guaranteeing interaction with its users.
Challenges
-
Achieving two-way communication on Vaughan Radio.
-
Promoting interaction between listeners and the presenter.
-
Incorporating gamification into the learning process.
The solution
Vaughan was offered a complete system comprising iOS and Android mobile applications and a web portal for interconnecting listeners with presenters.
The following functions were established:
- Access to the programming, selecting favourite programmes and the option of listening to programmes either live or deferred.
- Promoting interaction. Using gamification, live games are offered, with the presenters asking listeners questions.
- Twitter is integrated within the application so that whilst the games are taking place, listeners can comment freely from the app and keep up to date with tweets from Vaughan Radio.
The result
Vaughan Radio has successfully achieved interactive, two-way radio communication.
Now, as well as listening to live radio, listeners can learn English through games, thanks to the gamification components included. The presenters can manage and activate the content between their listeners during the programmes and from a web administrator, and listeners can receive notifications every time a new question is asked, allowing them to participate live for points for the targets achieved.
In parallel to this, thanks to the advanced functions implemented in the web portal, the Vaughan Radio administrator can access usage statistics and different customised analytics.
