Ayuntamiento de Avilés
Website of the Avilés City Council
The project
The website of the Avilés City Council had previously been developed by Izertis in Liferay version 6.2. Over time, it became necessary to update it at the design and technological level to provide a better service to end users and to the administrators and managers of the portal itself.
This update sought to facilitate its management and provide the City Council with a more stable, attractive and usable portal for the end user.
Challenges
-
Creating a more attractive design for the end user
-
Improving responsive design
-
Updating content architecture
-
Improving usability and user experience
-
Improve portal and content management
-
Evolving to a better infrastructure
The solution
The starting situation was analysed and it was proposed to create a new portal by using Liferay 7.2 as a platform. This would mean a technological leap in the version, making it more reliable and incorporating new functionalities.
In addition, a new design was made regarding the new content architecture with which to facilitate to the user the search for information. The portal was developed under a responsive philosophy, so that it could be adapted, viewed and used on any device regardless of its resolution.
A new infrastructure with a high availability architecture was also proposed and it was decided to use Docker container technologies to carry out the application deployments too.
Improvements and new functionalities would be incorporated into the portal on a recurring basis so that it can evolve at the rate that the organization does. Something that facilitates the fact that it is developed under Liferay technology.
The result
Thanks to all the technological updating and redesign, the website of Avilés City Council now has a faster and more stable environment and a much more attractive, organized and easy-to-manage portal.
This will provide greater attraction and retention of users along with a better experience, making the search for information easier, faster, more attractive and intuitive.
Additionally, administrator and manager users will have a control panel and management modules, both for information and for portal administration. This will provide them with many more management options and will simplify their work since no technical knowledge of the platform is required for its administration.
