Evolution of EFSA's electronic archive (updating of the document management platform and development of an application for the management of document management tools).
The project
AESA (Spanish Aviation Safety Agency) set the goal of having its document management platform with a vendor-supported version of Alfresco with the same functionality as the baseline solution, albeit more robust. To do this, it needed to upgrade its document management platform, which was running an older version of Alfresco that was no longer supported by the vendor, to the new Alfresco 7.2 product version.
In this project, the need to migrate Alfresco goes hand in hand with the adaptation of the document management services layer to use the new version of Alfresco, as well as the evolution of the electronic archive.
Along with this migration, the project includes the development of an information system for the administration of document management tools.

The solution
The service provided by the Izertis team has managed to meet all the client's needs. The extensive experience of the Izertis team in document management projects on Alfresco has allowed us to provide a migration process with a direct jump to the latest version, with the least possible complexity through the use of Ansible playbooks and fully documented; in addition to the developments integrated with Alfresco being efficient and compatible with the version to which Alfresco has been migrated.
The development of the new system has been approached using the SCRUM methodology to ensure that the outcome would meet the requirements and cover all the needs of the archiving team.
The project has involved:
- Develop the appropriate migration strategy and adapt artefacts to facilitate the implementation of migration
- Prepare the manual for the implementation of the migration process
- Prepare the manual for the installation and configuration of the new platform for the new version of Alfresco
- Accompany the client's technical team during the execution of the processes on their servers
The development work has involved:
- Meet the client's development standards
- Integration of the developed components with cross-cutting components of the client and with the document manager
- Prepare technical documentation of developments
- Prepare installation and user manuals
The result
At the conclusion of this project, EFSA has achieved its objectives:
- Have your document management platform, Alfresco, upgraded and thus work with a vendor-supported version
- To have an information system for the management of document management tools
- Evolving electronic archiving
