The project
RTVE required the installation, maintenance and support of the services of the IP audio network of Casa de la Radio for which it articulated a contract for the equipment of the network electronics for the building that the corporation holds in the historic facilities in Prado del Rey.
The project is framed within the plans of the public entity for the start-up of a new network for OT equipment, with the aim of increasing its presence and competing in better conditions with the new market demands.
Prado del Rey is the main production center and headquarters of the Spanish Radio Television Corporation, within is Casa de la Radio building where the central studios of Radio Nacional de España and its historical archive are also located. Radio Nacional de España is currently considered one of the 4 most listened generalist radio stations in Spain with almost 2 million listeners on average daily.

The solution
Izertis proposed a solution based on high-end equipment, superior to the requirements set forth in the Technical Specifications prepared by the RTVE Corporation.
On the one hand, the core equipment could be configured both in 2-in-2 Virtual Chassis (per communications room) and in a single virtual equipment or POD, linked by their fibre ports at 10Gbps or 40Gbps, with a latency between extremes of two microseconds.
The proposed solution also includes the possibility of union between core equipment at 40 Gbps with the corresponding QSFP +.
The result
In order to improve the network electronics and technological renovation of RTVE and, therefore, its competitive capacity, the service levels with which to guarantee the success of the project from acceptance to conclusion of the maintenance contracts were essential according to Corporation RTVE wishes. In this sense, high value services have been incorporated such as:
- Initial design support that includes network architecture services in the initial phase of the project to agree with Corporation RTVE on the optimal network design and adequate implementation phases for a minimum interruption of services.
- Manufacturer's guarantee extension with which all network electronics offered (except SFP) would enjoy a lifetime hardware guarantee. In addition, a 3-year full guarantee extension has been included, which includes software and advanced equipment replacement service in NBD format.
- And also, a maintenance extension has been provided that includes 3 years of maintenance service of all the concepts requested by the client.
