Caja Rural de Asturias
Corporate Intranet
The project
Caja Rural de Asturias has been using the same corporate intranet for years. The evolution of digital workspaces required their renewal both at a conceptual level and from the point of view of information architecture.
All this meant that all the information and procedures available to the company's employees were not centralized, ending up not facilitating the employees' day-to-day work, a fundamental objective in the deployment of an intranet.
Challenges
-
Centralizing all functionalities and sub-sites in the same environment
-
Creating a design tailored to the user and devices
-
Facilitating content, user and profile management
-
Providing a web analytics environment
The solution
From Izertis, the starting situation was analyzed and it was proposed to create a new intranet using Liferay as a platform and under the Digital Workspace concept. This would mean the possibility of centralizing all the functionalities and being able to create and manage independent sub-sites for the different departments of the organization within the same environment.
Liferay Analytics was also included to provide an environment with which to study site and page metrics, as well as user behaviour on the intranet. In addition, to support all this implementation, a new cloud infrastructure was chosen, which would allow having an easily scalable, robust and secure environment to support the future needs of the project and align them with those of the business.
To this solution, improvements and new functionalities would be incorporated on a recurring basis. In this way, the solution could evolve at the rate that the organization does.
The result
With this project, Caja Rural de Asturias can have an intranet with a responsive design, modern and easy to use by its employees. By centralizing all the functionalities, sub-sites and information in the same environment, a content architecture is achieved where it becomes easier to find the information or procedures used by employees in their day-to-day work routine. In addition, functionalities such as wiki, event calendars, list of highlighted news, areas with access to the different areas of the company (sub-sites) were incorporated, and each user can even create a fully personalized favourites menu with links that seem more interesting or useful to them.
With the inclusion of Liferay Analytics, it is now possible to study all the analytics of the site and its different sections, the behaviour of the users, create A / B tests to make better adaptations of the information and improve the workspaces based on the user.
Thanks to all this, there is a work environment that is easier to use and maintain, making adding information and evolving the intranet more practical and operational with the consequent saving of work time.
