Catalonia
Implantation of an infrastructure to solve the network needs of the hotel chain
The project
In early 2017, Catalonia Hotels & Resorts needed to increase the quality of the WiFi connection in all its facilities, public areas and outdoor spaces of all their resorts in the Caribbean. In addition, they needed to solve the problem of networks in their hotels related to telephones and prepare the implementation of new services such as IP and IPTV video surveillance solutions in the dwellings.
Challenges
-
To improve Wifi connections.
-
Troubleshoot network issues.
-
Prepare the deployment of new services
The solution
A communication project was proposed that would cover the needs of their hotel network, apart from achieving OPEX content and high quality of WIFI. The project consisted on the design, execution and start of implementation of a fibre optic network until home (FTTH), the associated electronics, GPON, and services that come with it: WIFI in rooms and common areas, telephony IP, corporate services ( PCs, POSs , etc.) and video surveillance.
The result
With this project, Catalonia has managed to achieve the established objectives and to maintain an high quality of WiFi recognized by the guests of the resort, to have a robust network to support an OPEX and to deploy new services thanks to the pioneering application of FTTH / GPON. We are currently implementing this solution at the Catalonia Bávaro Resort in the Dominican Republic and in the coming months we plan to implement it at the Catalonia Costa Mujeres Resort in Mexico.
