The project
The National Institute for the Defence of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) plays an essential role in Peru, promoting fair competition and protecting intellectual property rights. However, it faced the challenge of adapting to the growing needs of modern digital services. Its technology was lagging behind, and certain limitations in its digital infrastructure hampered its ability to provide agile and reliable services to citizens, government entities and businesses. In particular, the highly demanded trademark registration and evaluation process faced significant delays and imprecision in the identification and analysis of graphic marks. This presented a challenge to provide the highest quality technical advice and support.

The solution
Izertis proposed an innovative approach using different artificial intelligence solutions (conversational assistant, computer vision and machine learning models) to improve and optimise INDECOPI's processes in an Azure cloud environment. SaaS (Software as a Service) applications have been designed and developed to allow automatic responses to queries on trade mark registration, a similarity analysis system for figurative marks, and tools for efficient trade mark classification. The distribution of workloads was also improved and enhanced guidance was provided for examiners during the registration evaluation process. All this, supported by artificial intelligence platforms in the cloud, aims to streamline procedures and improve responsiveness to user needs.
The result
The successful implementation of our AI-based developments has brought about significant improvements in the management of intellectual property and trademark registration at INDECOPI. This project has been key to demonstrating that the solutions proposed by Izertis are effective and scalable. By streamlining processes and increasing accuracy in the assessment of applications, we have been able to significantly reduce waiting times for users and increase the capacity to handle applications. As a result, our project has contributed to economic momentum and promoted a culture of innovation and fair competition in the country.
